Psychology/Sociology Club meeting on October 25

The Psychology/Sociology Club will meet on Wednesday, October 25, at 5:00 p.m. in Room 245.  We will be participating in a guessing game of “Who am I?”. Students are encouraged to portray a famous psychologist or sociologist by dressing as their selected person, bringing in an object to represent their selected person, or describing their selected person so that the other participants can guess who they are.  Everyone is welcome to come.

The Psychology/Sociology Club will meet on Wednesday, October 11, at 5:00 p.m. in Room 245 of the Psychology/Sociology building.  We’ll be hosting a panel discussion with some of our newer faculty members, who will provide insight and information into things like their graduate school experience and what they like about their fields of study.  Everyone is welcome to come.

Award Ceremony for Spring, 2017

Several members of the Psychology/Sociology Department received awards at the Spring Honors and Recognition Ceremony. Jamie Gesslein received the Excellence in Psychology Award and the Excellence in Achievement in Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies Award. Justin Wells received an African-American Male Initiative Award. Gary Fisk (Professor of Psychology) received the Faculty Excellence in Scholarship Award. Ellen Cotter (Professor of Psychology) gave a moving "last lecture" speech about the importance of taking opportunities in life.

Crumpton Presents at an Undergraduate Conference

Undergraduate senior in psychology, Quint Crumpton, recently presented his poster, "Students' Perceptions of Free Online Textbooks" at the Georgia Undergraduate Research in Psychology (GURP) conference held at Kennesaw State University.  Dr. Judy Orton Grissett, Assistant Professor of Psychology, was Mr. Crumpton's faculty sponsor.

Psych/Soc Club meeting on internships

The Psychology/Sociology Club will meet on Wednesday, March 29, at 5:30 p.m. in Room 245.  We'll be talking about internships.  Dr. Grissett will cover some of the logistics behind registering for an internship and the course requirements for students, and some representatives from organizations such as the Perry Wellness Center and Methodist Home will be present as well to talk about internship opportunities available at their sites.  Everyone is welcome to come.
