Dr. Judy Orton-Grissett's Experimental Psychology class gave poster presentations to finish the semester.

Fisk Poster Presentation at the Psychonomic Society Meeting

Gary Fisk gave a poster presentation at the Psychonomic Society meeting. The topic is improving the use of PowerPoint as an educational tool. More information about this project is available at slidesforstudents.com.

Debbie Palmer - Associate Professor of Psychology

The Psychology/Sociology Department welcomes Debbie Palmer as a new Associate Professor of Psychology. Dr. Palmer has a Ph.D. from the University of Utah in Developmental Psychology. Her scholarly interests are in adolescent development and pediatric medicine. She will be teaching Introductory Psychology, Human Growth and Development, and Theories of Learning this fall. She grew up in South Carolina, so she should adapt easily to the climate of Southwest Georgia.

LaVerne Worthy retirement

LaVerne Worthy, Professor of Psychology, is retiring after 20 years of service to GSW. Dr. Worthy is an alumna of GSW who graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1981. She went on to receive her Ph.D. in Behavioral Psychology from Auburn University. She was known for sharing her passion for behavioral psychology with our students. A noteworthy accomplishment was her leadership with the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) group in southwest Georgia. The Psychology/Sociology Department appreciates her service to GSW and wishes her a happy retirement.

Psy/Soc Club meeting on March 4

The Psychology/Sociology Club will meet on Monday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m. in Room 245.  We’ll be discussing some issues related to advisement and registration, including the process of finding and registering for internships.  Everyone is welcome to come.

The Psychology/Sociology Club will have its first meeting of the semester on Wednesday, January 16 at 4:00 p.m. in Room 245.  We’ll be discussing plans for the semester’s activities, and we also have some officer positions to fill due to students graduating last semester.  Everyone is welcome to come.
